WOOD FRAME AND D-LOG

Conventional frame construction is obviously still the most popular building material in America. It is easy to build with, everyone knows how to build with it and it is readily available, therefore lower in cost. At least for now....

We urge people to seek sustainably harvested lumber sources to help support that growing industry and replenish our forest resources. A major lumber retailer has recently pledged to stock only sustainably harvested wood and has been pressuring their suppliers to get certified.

We frame floors and roofs with engineered lumber which is made from smaller, fast growing trees and uses less wood than conventional lumber. Local, standing dead trees are great for post and beamwork and recycled wood is excellent for cabinets, floors and siding and is often of a higher quality than most available woods on the market today.

For clients who wish to build a log home, we can give the feel of a log home in a frame home with wood post&beam accents and interior wall finishes. It is more cost effective this way, much more energy efficient, and lighter on forest products.

If log is a must, consider a D-log. Smaller diameter logs can be used, flat on the inside and rounded on the outside, milled to fit tight. They go together relatively quickly, and when it is up, the finished wall system is in place.

The homes below are good examples of the log cabin look and feel with frame construction. Careful attention was paid to color and texture of materials inside and out.
